The
Cangelaris Philatelic Collection website
is part of the larger
Panayotis D. Cangelaris personnal website and shows the totality of his
philatelic exhibits preceded by an entry webpage (with his awards) and
introductory webpages for each one of the exhibits.
He
started
collecting these stamps during his childhood in the late '50s, when he
was still living with his family in Alexandria Egypt and continued in
the early '60s, just
after they settled permanently in Greece. Since 1966,
parts
of his collection were presented to the
public at national, international and world philatelic
exhibitions (competitive or not) at which he showed the
following
exhibits: This one (2021) in the then newlly created philatelic
literature - website class. Also, as part of his Greek and
New
Territories stamps collection, the exhibits Greek
Charity Stamps
(since 1966) in one frame at the youth and the traditional philately
classes, Greek
Issues of Thrace 1920
(since 1966) in (three to) five frames at the youth and traditional
philately classes, Varieties
on Greek Stamps
(since 1977) in five (to eight) frames at
the traditional philately class, The Glory Issue of Greece
(1945)
(since 2007) and The
Western Thrace
Autonomous Government "Muhtariyet" Issue (1913)
(since 2009)
in one frame each at the traditional philately class. From
his scouts on stamps collection he first presented to the
public (in 1970) the Scouts
on Stamps Exhibition,
which he initiated, proposed to the then leadership of the Greek
Boy-Scouts Association and materialized in fifteen
frames, followed thereafter by three distinct exhibits: World Scout Movement (since
2002) in five frames at the thematic philately class, The Czech Scout Post
1918
(since 2006) and The
Mafeking Blues 1900
(since
2010) in one frame each at the traditional philately class.
From his Egyptian stamps collection, he exhibited (since
2005) in
five frames The
Kingdom of Egypt (1922-1953) at
the traditional
philately class as well. Finally, between 1982-1986 he
exhibited
in the philatelic literature class his book (in Greek language) Dictionary of
Greek
Philatelists. |
