PETROS
ZOUMBOULAKIS (1937)
Born in Athens, Petros
Zoumboulakis
studied painting at the School of Fine Arts with Yannis Moralis
(1956-1961) and from 1962 to 1964 stage scenery with Vassilis
Vassiliadis.
With a state scholarship he later
studied the Byzantine and folklore art in Greece
(1964-1965).
He had his
first solo
exhibition in Athens (1970). However, he
had participated to Pan-Hellenic and other group shows in Greece and
abroad already since 1965. He was awarded
with the painting award "Hymn to Liberty" (1971).
From 1964 to 1986 he taught
at the Doxiadis School and the
Technological Educational Institute of Athens. As stage scenery and costume designer he
collaborated with
many Theaters in Athens and Thessalonica.
He has illustrated a series of books and magazines as well.
His
painting is traced among objectivity and abstraction which complement
each other with his work. He lives and works in Athens.
