Born at Tripolis (Arcadia), Dimitris Talaganis studied architecture at the Architectural Institute of Moscow (1964-1971).  From 1971 to 1974, year of his return to Greece, he lived in Italy and France.  He had his first solo exhibition in Paris (1974), but had participated in group shows already since 1973.  Other followed in Greece and abroad.  He was elected vice-mayor of Tripolis (1998-2002).  His work has a distinct presence of Greekness in the frame of a lyric realism.  He was the son of the fighter of the National Resistance Yannis Talaganis (Zevgos).  Dimitris Talaganis passed away in Athens (2021).
