IOANNIS STAVROU (1948)

Born at Thessalonica, Ioannis Stavrou studied at the School of Fine Arts, Athens, in the sculpture workshop of Yannis Pappas.  He had his first solo exhibition in Athens (1978).  Other one-man and group shows followed in several Greek cities.  With starting point the deformed art and an abstract expressionism, traditional painting gets a metaphysic dimension in his work.  He lives and works in Athens.
