EVA
PERSAKI (1948)
Born in
Paris, Eva Persaki studied
initially design with Panos Sarafianos, in Athens. She
continued
her studies at the School of Fine Arts until 1972, first in painting
with Yiorgos Mavroidis and then fresco and iconography with
Constantinos Xynopoulos. Subsequently, she moved to Paris,
where
she got lessons on etching with Stanley Hayter and design
at the Academy Grande Chaumière. Since
1978 she studied miniature art in India and
Buddhist hagiography in Nepal with the painter Targe.
She
had her first solo exhibition in Athens (1985).
Other solo and group shows followed both in Athens and
abroad.
She is a founding member of the Pictorial Association of the Island of
Syros. With an abstract disposition and an
expressionist technique, her work moves in the limits of fauvism.
She is the daughter of painter Jeanne Persaki. She lives and
works in Athens and the Island of Syros.
