  DIMITRIS NALBANTIS (1957)

Born at Didimotichon (Thrace), Dimitris Nalbantis took painting lessons with Nikos Tziotis (1970) and continued his studies on architectural design, decoration and fashion in Thessalonica (1974).  He had his first one-man show at Thessalonica (1980), although he participated in group exhibitions already since 1978.  Other followed in Greece and abroad.  He has been awarded with a number of Prizes and Awards, including one from UNICEF (1987).  One of his works was selected in the year 2000 for a postage stamp issued by the United Nations in the set "Our World of 2000".  Another four paintings were printed as postage stamps in the issue "Environment Protection" by the Hellenic Post (2003).  Clearly descriptive, his work belongs to the world of magic realism.  After a long stay in Thessalonica, he now lives and works in Athens.
