  ELENI MORAITOU (1953)

Born in Athens, Eleni Moraitou studied at the School of Fine Arts, painting with Yannis Moralis and Dimitris and Chariklia Mitaras (1972-1977) and stage scenery with Vassilis Vassiliadis (1975-1977).  Furthermore, she attended lessons on ceramics with Giorgos Georgiou (1977-1979) and typography and book art with Yannis Papadakis (1979-1982).  She concluded her studied by taking lessons on etching with Thanassis Exarchopoulos (1988).  She had her first solo exhibition in Athens (1983).  She participated in many group shows as well.  Since 1977 she is working as school instructor, while at the same time she has illustrated a series of works, including two books for the primary school and has engaged herself in stage scenery.  Her work is expressionist with a strong anthropocentric element.  She lives and works in Athens.
