Born at the Island of Skiathos, Yannis Michailidis was self-taught in painting.  He had his first one-man show at Volos, Greece (1961).  Since then he had organized and had participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad.  In 1970 he was awarded the 1st Prize for Painting from Young Painters of the House for Letters and Fine Arts.  His work combines abstract tendencies with constructed architectural forms.  Yannis Michailidis passed away in Athens (2021).
