  KATY MAVROMMATI (1947)

Born in Alexandria (Egypt), Katy Mavrommati studied graphic arts at the Athens Technology Institute (1965-1968) with Orestis Kanellis and Ilias Dekoulakos and took lessons in painting from her husband Evangelos Kouzounis.  With a scholarship she continued her studies in Paris (1973-1976), in painting on ceramics at the École des Arts Appliqués and at the painting workshop of Pierre Matthey in the École des Beaux Arts.  She had her first solo exhibition in Athens (1982).  However, since 1975 she had already participated to group shows.  A series of other solo and group exhibitions followed in Greece and abroad.  Her work is dominated by an intense romantic realism.  She lives and works in Athens.
