ALECOS
LEVIDIS (1944)
Born in Athens,
Alecos Levidis took initially lessons on
design (1960-1962) with Costas Malamos and Alekos Kontopoulos and later
continued his studies on staging and stage scenery at the Université
du Theatre des Nations in Paris (1963) and on architecture at the École
d' Architecture of the University of Geneva (1964-1969). He
had
his first one-man exhibition in Athens (1982), having already
participated to group shows since 1980. Other solo and group
exhibitions followed both in Greece (mainly) and abroad. He
has
also painted frescos, designed stage scenery and illustrated book front
pages, while he has written a number of books on fine arts and history
as well. He is elected permanent member of the Academy of Athens
(2021). He is awarded with the Gold Cross of the Order of Merit (2022). His painting is the result of his intellectual
interests
and is concentrated in the field of traditional expressionism and
objective realism. He lives and works in Athens.
