VASSILIS
KYPREOS (1936)
Born
in Athens, Vassilis Kypreos studied at the School of Fine Arts
(1958-1962) with Yannis Moralis. He had his first
one-man exhibition in Athens (1964)
and has shown his work in
many solo and group exhibitions both in Greece and abroad.
He has been awarded 1st Prizes at the 1st and 2nd Pan-Hellenic Youth
Exhibitions (Athens 1961 and
1962) and at the exhibition "Jeunes Peintres du Monde" in Paris
(1961).
He was assistant
(for architecture)
at the Polytechnic School of Athens (1966-1968
and 1974-1979)
and has taught painting and history of ancient Greek art at the Program
for American students "Study in Greece". He often
travels and has lived and worked at different intervals in New York,
Paris, Antibes and
London. Elements of
objectivity, abstract and surrealism coexist in his work in a dreamy
and magic space.
He lives and works in Athens and
the Island of Patmos.
