SPIROS
KRITIKOS (1960)
Born at Aigion
(Peloponnese), Spiros Kritikos initially
studied Byzantine hagiography with Yannis Vassilopoulos. He
later
studied at the School of Fine Arts, Athens (1981-1986) painting with
Yannis Moralis and Dimitris Mitaras and history of art with Marina
Lambraki-Plaka. With a scholarship he moved to Paris
(1987-1990),
where he continued his studies at the École
Nationale Supérieure
des Beaux Arts with Vladimir Velicovic and Henri Cueco, as well as at
the École
Nationale Supérieure
des Arts Décoratifs
with Denis Rival. He had his first one-man exhibition in
Athens
(1989). Other solo and group shows in Greece and abroad
followed
as well. Objectivity in harmony with the optical illusion
(trompe-l'oeil) are dominant in his work together with a distinct
reference to the Flemish School. He lives and works in
Athens.
