CHARALAMBIDIS (1946)
Born at Katerini,
Kostas Charalambidis studied initially
at the workshop of sculptor Thanassis Minopoulos, in Thessalonica
(1969) and then he continued his studies of painting (1971-1976) and
etching (1985-1986) at the Écoles
des Beaux Arts of Paris and
Chaville (France). At the same time he was engaged in copying
grand masters from the Louvre Museum (1975-1980 and
1992-1995).
Since 1977 he has been assistant of Yannis Tsarouchis, while connected
with Stratis Eleftériades
(Tériade).
He had his first one-man exhibition in Athens (1980), but has already
participated to group shows since 1975. Other solo and group
exhibitions followed mainly in Greece and France. He has been
awarded 1st Prize at the exhibition La Main d' Or, in Paris (1985) and
at the 5th International Salon France - Greece - Turkey, in Bordeaux
(1998). At his work dominates the art of optical illusion
(trompe-l'oeil). He lives and works in Paris.
