  APOSTOLOS YAYANNOS (1945)

Born at Tripolis (Arcadia), Apostolos Yayannos studied graphic arts at the Athens Technological Organization (1965-1967) with Alevizos Tassos, Ilias Dekoulakos and Dimitris Mitaras.  He continued his studies in painting with Ilias Dekoulakos (1971-1973).  In 1968 he founded and directed until 1974 the workshop of applied arts "Morfi" [Form].  He had his first one-man show in Athens (1974).  Other solo and group exhibitions followed in Greece and abroad.  He has also illustrated a series of books and magazines and has engaged himself in the study of the folklore.  Between an abstract expressionism and a demanding impressionist landscape painting his work passes through a clear and personal style.  He lives and works in Athens.
