  NIKOLAS SFIKAS (1961)

Born in Cairo (Egypt), Nikolas Sfikas studied interior architecture and painting at the School of Fine Arts of the University of Helwan (Cairo).  He had his first solo exhibition at that same city (1984).  Other one-man and group shows followed in Greece and abroad.  In 1982 he was awarded with the 1st Prize for painting from the University of Helwan.  In 1983 he received a Monetary Prize from the Egyptian Art Contest and in 1985 a Honour Laudation from the School of Fine Arts for his work at the group exhibition "Drought in Africa".  In 2000 he was awarded by the Greek Writers Association as well.  He published the album "Retro-Shah" (Thessalonica 1994).  Influenced by his personal interest on chess, his work expresses an allegoric character with strong elements of Greekness.  He lives and works at Thessalonica.
