  CHRISTOS SARAKATSIANOS (1937-2022)

Born at Ioannina (Epirus), Christos Sarakatsianos was initially student of Georgios Kazakos and Panos Sarafianos.  Subsequently he studied at the School of Fine Arts, Athens (graduated in 1967) sculpture with Thanassis Apartis and painting with Yannis Moralis.  With a state scholarship he also studied stage scenery and decoration.  He had his first one-man show in Athens (1982).  However, since 1967, he participated in a series of group shows followed by other group exhibitions with more to follow.  In the period between 1967-1973 he lived and worked in Europe.  He was a founding member of the "Etching Team".  Clearly surrealist, his work reaches the limits of post-modern.  Christos Sarakatsianos passed away in Athens (2022).
